Position Summary - Maintaining systems to ensure that meaningful recreational activities are planned for individuals with behavioral health.  Coordinate recreation and community integration for the individuals by meeting with the program directors to plan recreational activities. Design daily/monthly/yearly events with the coordination of the CRs and SROs. Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
Essential Accountabilities:
- Responsible for ensuring all recreational activities enhance and support each person’s social responsibility, independence, dignity, and continued growth.
- Create Activities / Recreation schedules to meet the programs and individual’s needs and interests.
- Engage people served in therapeutic activities, such as games, art, dance, crafts music, and field trips.
- Assist individuals in developing the essential social skills necessary to enhance their independence.
- Document group progress; and evaluate interventions for effectiveness.
- Coordinate a monthly calendar of recreation and community integration opportunities approved by the Program Director and/or Assistant Managers.Â
- Plan and execute special events.
- Ensuring the environment is appropriately decorated, providing recreational activities for all the people we serve, regardless of their level of functioning.
- Conduct group activities on a regular basis.
- Attend all in-services/training as required by agency and OMH. Must be able to drive agency vehicles. Must be able to navigate to various sites.
- Must successfully complete and perform all techniques required in CPR, and First Aid and be able to drive agency vehicles.
- Maintaining and updating recreational resource book, calendar, and schedule of activities at each site, for the use by staff.
- Must be able to physically interact with all the people we provide services to; in the program and in the community i.e., drive individual to community integration locations.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
