Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required, professional certifications (CPA, CCM, CTP, etc.) or graduate degree in business, accounting, or finance preferred.

 

Experience: 5+ years’ experience in accounting and finance environment, preferably with experience in non-profit/charitable Ministry as well as multi-site operations; experience in a supervisory role; and proven experience of budget preparation, setting and monitoring financial forecasting.

 

In the Controller position, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

 

  • Work with the Executive team to ensure financial objectives are met and company procedures are followed. 
  • Provide input into the Ministry’s financial decision-making processes.
  • Responsible for compliance and regulatory matters pertaining to the accounting activities of the organization
  • Serve as expert on compliance and regulatory issues related to accounting and finance. The Controller is responsible for adherence to the accounting policies, and reporting deviation to the appropriate parties.
  • Collaborate with executive staff on the development of forecasts and implementation of strategic planning. This includes the ongoing assessment of capital expenditures and prioritization of capital projects.
  • Lead the organizations’ accounting and treasury functions as well as oversee administration and facilities. This would include the development and mentoring of direct reports with the goal to achieve best practices and optimal output.

 

Accounting:

  • Ensure accurate and consistent financial processes and transactions in compliance with GAAP including month-end and year-end close.
  • Ensure timely financial statement preparations including monthly financial information, departmental report preparations, cash flow forecasts, bank account reconciliations and ad hoc reporting as requested.
  • Manage the annual budget process including training and assistance to managers, and reporting of allocated costs.
  • Manage Audit and 990 tax return preparations including the management of external relationship with CPA firm.
  • Develop, enhance and implement internal policies, procedures and controls for accounting and finance to enhance overall Ministry workflow.
  • Conduct monthly operating reviews with managers to ensure expense management and budget accountability.
  • Supervise accounts payable function, ensuring accounts payable transactions are compliant with company policies and procedures.
  • Train new and existing staff on relevant accounting policies and procedures and monitor compliance on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting system, ensuring reconciliation with the general ledger, proper depreciation methods, and control over physical location.
  • Oversee the filing of all state and federal reporting.

 

Treasury:

  • Work closely with the Senior Director of Engagement & Development Strategy who oversees Treasury
  • Perform analysis and forecasting of short-term and long-term cash requirements (consistent with the approved plan by executive management and the Board).
  • Provide oversight of month-end reconciliations between treasury and accounting as needed

 

Administration and Facilities:

  • Work closely with Facilities and IT Director, providing supervision and oversight the daily functions of administration and facilities needs of the ministry including but not limited to charitable solicitation compliance, insurance, maintenance, property improvements, capital projects, and government reporting requirements.
  • Ensure operational efficiencies in the areas of administration, facilities and maintenance management.
  • Provide management oversight on all tracking and organization of all non-product assets for the ministry such as furniture, appliances, and equipment.
  • Evaluate financial systems that support the growth of specific programs and the Ministry overall.
  • Manage all changes within the approved budget, reporting variances if they occur.

 

Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 am- 5:00 pm (40 hours/week) with flexibility on schedule including remote work days

 

Compensation: $80,000/year

Our Outreach Services train and resource men and women to effectively support and minister to those who are hurting and struggling through workshops, videos, podcasts, discipleship teaching, and other practical resources.
