Faculty Position - Intermediate School History Long-Term Substitute Teacher (Anticipated)

The Potomac School seeks an Intermediate School History Teacher to fill an anticipated long-term substitute role for the fall of 2024. This position reports to the Head of the Intermediate School and is responsible for teaching four classes of 8th grade history. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Teach assigned curriculum, correct assignments, administer tests, evaluate students’ progress, inform parents of progress.
• Work collaboratively with departmental teams in developing curriculum and assessing students.
• Keep attendance records; maintain discipline in the classroom.
• Participate in faculty and professional meetings and teacher training workshops as appropriate.
• Be organized, dependable, patient and creative.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Experience teaching History, preferably at the Middle School level.
• Ability to motivate and communicate effectively with students and understand their educational and emotional needs. 
• Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community.
• Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize a variety of teaching methods to support student learning.
