WHY WE’RE LOOKING: 

We are looking to grow our team with a Database Platform Engineer who can help us maintain and enhance our database infrastructure to meet the increasing data needs of our clients and products. This role is crucial in ensuring that our systems are secure, reliable, and capable of supporting our growth across multiple SaaS brands, including Lightyear, Oplogic, iService, and Vistadash. Your expertise will play a vital role in delivering data-driven solutions that empower dealerships nationwide. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Design and develop code to manage and operate multiple production database installations 

• Define and enforce standards for contributing database scripts, functions, and triggers 

• Collaborate with product teams to support data needs for new product features 

• Support data needs for third-party partner integrations 

• Create documentation for technical audiences covering database structure, deployment, and migration 

• Coordinate deployments and maintenance with multiple product teams 

• Collaborate with security engineering to refine practices governing data access, integrations, and management of sensitive data 

• Support deployments during off hours on a rotational basis 

• Survey environments for data inconsistencies (schema drift, etc.) and improve processes to increase consistency 

• Represent the data team in engineering improvement and modernization efforts 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR: 

• BS in Computer Science or similar field and 6 years of experience 

• Experience with relational data modeling and schema definition 

• Fluent in designing and optimizing SQL statements, stored procedures, functions, and triggers 

• Experience managing PostgreSQL databases (v11+) 

• Knowledge of Postgres internals for optimization and management purposes 

• Experience writing code in procedural languages/extensions for Postgres (PL/pgSQL, PL/Perl, etc.) 

• Experience deploying SQL database services in AWS (RDS/Aurora) 

• Knowledge of monitoring and tuning database systems for performance and high availability 

• Strong understanding of replication technologies and disaster recovery strategies 

• Experience managing databases and web services on Linux 

• Knowledge of task scheduling technologies for Postgres 

• Experience deploying tools for connection management and pooling 

• Experience writing code to automate management and maintenance tasks across multiple database environments 

• Experience using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools to manage deployment and configuration (Terraform, etc.) 

• NoSQL experience on one or more platforms (Dynamo, MongoDB, Redis, etc.) 

• Familiarity with data warehouse design and online analytical processing (OLAP) and extraction approaches from SQL databases. 

• Experience coaching developers on best practices for database integrations 

• Experience managing databases for enterprise cloud services 

• Experience using database schema migration/versioning tools
