Description

The Buyer I is an entry level position, focusing on the daily transactions to facilitate a successful procurement process. This position must ensure reliable and cost-effective supply chain practices to deliver raw materials, supplies and service required for the manufacturing environment. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Logistics, Quality Control, Research and Development and the Project Management teams.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Create purchase orders for production components and/or finished product.
  • Facilitate supplier relationships through daily communications.
  • Ensure the on-time delivery of all raw materials, supplies and services, based on production demand through actively reviewing reports.
  • Process and respond to department and personal tasks within 24 hours.
  • Provide updates on incoming inventory to other departments.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing and Project Management to communicate all updates of purchased products affecting the immediate production schedule
  • Inform Order Entry of major supply chain changes
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Fabtex products and industry knowledge.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of Fabtex processes and procedures.
  • Communicate with Accounting to efficiently process supplier invoices on a weekly basis.
  • Analyze inbound freight shipments for cost saving opportunities.
  • Other job responsibilities that may arise.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • a recommended minimum of 1+ years’ experience in related purchasing position
  • Must be well organized with strong analytical skills
  • Possess the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Customer service and conflict resolution skills
  • Well organized with strong analytical skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong background and/or knowledge in Lead times, Safety Stock, Min-Max, etc.
  • ERP experience preferred, but not required.
  • Various Tasks as requested when hired.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 
Good grammar and diction. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, percent and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY: 
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
