PRIMARY PURPOSE:  Responsible for the direct medical supervision of all children assigned to his/her supervision including implementing and maintaining adequate standards of care for the adolescent children as stated by the organization and the State of Georgia. The Registered Nurse is a professional who requires the consistent exercise of discretion and judgment. This position is of a predominately intellectual and varied nature with output that is impossible to standardize.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. In the care of children at Hillside, the RN is responsible for implementing and maintaining adequate standards of residential care for children as stated by the organization and the State of Georgia.
B. Accurate and timely entry of all leaves and discharges into Avatar. (if applicable)
C. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate total nursing child care according to the child’s individualized treatment plan.
D. Administer all children’s medications and medical treatments according to physician’s orders.
E. Monitor all child response to medications and/or treatments.
F. Ensure that proper clinical record and pharmacy documentation is maintained as required.
G. Responsible for monitoring the physical health and hygiene of each child; including assessment of all physical injuries and complaints for appropriate referral or disposition.
H. Report all forms of suspected physical and verbal abuse to the Chief Executive Officer.
I. Communicate with the pharmacy regarding medications.
J. Communicate in an effective and efficient manner with physicians, agencies, visitors and other Hillside personnel.
K. Participate in professional growth and development opportunities for self and training for others.
L. Maintains, reviews and audits the medical record to ensure accuracy and thoroughness  of documentation.
M. Maintain acceptable standards of performance.
N. Provide medication/health education to clients and families as needed.
O. Monitor client during emergency safety interventions and complete required assessments/documentation.
P. Ensure Hillside Accessibility Plan is adhered to by assuring the removal of barriers to the greatest extent possible that may hinder those served, staff and/or other stakeholders.
Q. Be trained in the ESI program and techniques. Be able to use the techniques safely and effectively.
R. Understands the developmental milestones of children and adolescents.
S. The Registered Nurse is expected to perform the aforementioned duties and other duties as deemed necessary by leadership with team support and spirit.
