JOB PURPOSE:

The CBP Workforce Wellness Program is an innovative wellness program looking for a full-time health coach who will facilitate access to our fitness center and fitness app, and provide guidance to improving physical wellness in alignment with our wellness model and Endeavors mission.  The health coach for the CBP Workforce Wellness Program is a fitness and health professional who focuses on improving the physical wellness of their clients by determining their clients' goals and creating a routine the client can follow to meet their goals. They may work individually with clients, and may also lead small groups of individuals. Positivity and communication skills, in addition to physical fitness, are important traits in health coaches within the CBP Workforce Wellness Program.

The Health Coach, working alongside the Fitness Coordinator, will also ensure that fitness center operations comply with OSHA and other related operating and safety policies, programs and instructions. The health coach will prepare standard operating written instructions and procedures concerning programs, operations and safe use of equipment for the safety and well-being of all those authorized to use the facility.  The health coach ensures proper operation and maintenance of exercise equipment and that the facility is kept attractive and clean.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead group exercise classes, continuously monitoring and adjusting types of classes and times to meet the interest and needs of clients. Programming will include purpose based and functional fitness classes as well as traditional fitness classes appropriate to Endeavors Wellness Model.
  • Create and manage client fitness programs and meal plans via the Fitness app.
  • Promote and facilitate the use of a health coach and the fitness equipment in the fitness center.
  • Schedule group classes for activities such as yoga, tai chi, spin class, and health coaching sessions.
  • Administer fitness/wellness screenings with clients; enters information into appropriate forms and secure database.
  • Ensure all contracts, certifications and liability waivers are up to date.
  • Develop individual comprehensive fitness program that addresses individual client’s needs and abilities in all levels of care without stigma or shame.
  • Provide personal and group fitness instruction for clients, which includes equipment orientation, a personal fitness assessment and monitoring ongoing-progress of clients.
  • Assists clients in determining their own goals for movement and physical wellness, the clients understanding of how to best utilize gym equipment towards those goals, and modeling exercises for clients.
  • Answers questions regarding programs offered through the Fitness Center and/or other CBP Workforce Wellness Program and Endeavors services available to the clients.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

 

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field such as kinesiology, or exercise physiology, or relevant work experience can be used in place of degree. 

 

EXPERIENCE: Preferred: two years of direct fitness programming, specialty certificates or training in Yoga, Health Coaching, or Tai Chi or a relevant degree in replacement of experience. Experience working with first responders and/or military or veteran community is preferred.

 

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer’s sole discretion.

 

LICENSES: Driver’s License must be valid and must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check. CPR and First Aid certification, personal training certification through ACE, NSCA, NASM, or ACSM.

 

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

 

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.
