Large Memphis law firm seeking an experienced, detail-oriented probate paralegal
Responsibilities include assisting attorneys with all facets of trust and probate administration, including meeting with clients, trustees and family members; communicating with beneficiaries; drafting correspondence, Excel spreadsheets and probate pleadings; reviewing bank statements; preparing annual accountings; and organizing and maintaining client files.
Probate paralegals have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
- Provide administrative support to lawyers by maintaining calendars and communicating with clients and other parties involved in legal proceedings
- Communicating with the court or other government agencies regarding the status of a case
- Reviewing documents and titles to determine ownership of assets and interests in property
- Coordinating with the personal representative and other attorneys in the case to ensure that all deadlines are met
- Reviewing financial documents such as bank statements, court records, and probate records to verify accuracy and identify issues
- Collecting information about an estate from beneficiaries and other interested parties
- Managing accounts and paying bills on behalf of the estate, conservatorship, or guardianship.
