TITLE :  Preclinical Project Manager, Surgical Services 

 

REPORTING LOCATION:  Rockville, MD

                                               

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES:  Support in vivo oncology research studies in mice as preclinical project manager by managing animal procurement and tumor bank. 

 

DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND PRODUCTIVITY EXPECTATIONS:  

  • Manage banking, reanimation, and replenishment schedule

    • Identify when models are below threshold
    • Review lineages to determine appropriate source of re-build
    • Flag and remove inconsistencies
    • Maintain oversight of cohorts
    • Pilot data when appropriate
    • Schedule implant tasks in LIMS
  • Manage and maintain inventory of tissue samples
  • Coordinate receipt of patient biopsies and enter relevant information into tumorbank
  • Maintain documentation and trackers
  • Coordinate animal procurement and delivery with internal and external clients
  • Act as a point of contact in matters pertaining to animal procurement and inventory management
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Project Management experience required
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, prioritize work, and meet deadlines
  • Superior planning, organizational, computer, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound and accurate judgment in making timely decisions.
  • Data analysis skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Sharepoint
  • Proficiency in LIMS and procedures used to accomplish data reduction
  • Experience with preclinical in vivo pharmacology or oncology studies preferred
  • Ability to assist with other duties in a dynamic environment

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • REQUIRED:  BS degree in animal science, biology, pharmacology, or related field. Demonstrated experience with project management    
  • PREFERRED:  2 years of related experience in contract research animal facility or similar setting.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time using a computer in a typical office environment in a multi-level facility
  • Must be able to lift and move packages weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Some activities require repetitive motion and reaching, pulling or pushing
  • Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
