Position Summary

The role of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist reports to the Imaging Manager. This position is responsible for performing diagnostic MRI imaging. 

 

Essential Position Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic MRI imaging in accordance with the imaging protocols established by the radiologists
  • Communicate any pertinent information to the radiologist to ensure patient receives quality care
  • Ensure the patient undergoes a thorough and proper pre-procedure screening process prior to entry of the scanning room (Zone IV)
  • Ensure any implanted patient device is MRI compatible and has been properly set to MRI mode prior to entering the scan room (Zone IV)
  • Review patient file to ensure patient identity is verified, physician orders are accurate, and appropriate exams are performed
  • Enter charges and documentation into the electronic medical record
  • Assist with other duties to ensure efficient workflow of the Imaging Department, as needed

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited MRI technologist program with ARRT (R)(MR), or ARMRIT certification. Registry eligible graduate of an ARRT or ARMRIT program will be considered. Certification required within one year of date of hire.
  • Licensure and Certifications: Radiology Technologist Licensure (ARRT) with advanced MR certification (MR required within 1 year) OR ARMRIT certification, required. BLS, required.
  • Experience: Previous MR experience preferred.

Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of work time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and/or positioning patients and equipment of up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment. This position serves a culturally and linguistically diverse patient population. This position has exposure to communicable disease, body fluids, magnetic fields, and radiation.
