BASIC PURPOSE: The Child Advocacy Center Case Manager is considered to be a member of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) for both La Crosse and Winona.  The Case Manager must possess the skills and demeanor to interface with child/vulnerable adult victims and their non-offending caregivers who are dealing with trauma and other MDT members, professionals, and community members in a professional and compassionate manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The primary role of the Child Advocacy Center Case Manager is to conduct forensic interviews and provide advocacy services to non-offending caregivers
  • The role as Case Manager is to coordinate and provide services to non-offending caregivers and their children.
  • The Child Advocacy Center Staff performs as a  vital member of the MDT from the initial investigation on through case disposition or until services are no longer needed.
  • Other duties of the Case Manager include providing education, assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, information and referrals, accompanying families to court and acting as a liaison between the family and the system at large.
  • The role of Case Manager is to coordinate interview schedules with law enforcement, child protective services and criminal justice system for abuse investigations.
  • Other duties of the Case Manager will be to respond to subpoenas, prepare for and testify at Court.
  • The Case Manager provides leadership and supervision to all intern and volunteers involved in the program.
  • The Case Manager will attend community meetings directly related to Child Protection/Welfare, networking and outreach.  Such as, but not limited to, Peer Review, Case Review, Task Force, MDT, etc.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ENVIRONMENT

Education, Training & Work Experience: This position strongly supports a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social work or related field or lived experience related to experience working with children and families affected by abuse, or work experience in advocacy, forensic interviewing, or investigations.

Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Experience or knowledge in areas of child development, crisis intervention, case management and child abuse investigations is encouraged.

Equipment & Applications: Proficiency in using office equipment and applications such as Microsoft Word, Google,  and forensic interviewing equipment.

Work Environment & Physical Demands: The Case Manager must be flexible to work with other staff, assist in caring for facility, enter data and maintain data tracking system, support fundraising and special events, provide aid and education to community and generally help to assure Stepping Stones/Matty’s Place viability.
