Quilter Operator

Position title: Quilter Operator

Reports to: Department Supervisor/Production Assistant

Supervises: N/A


Position summary:

This position is responsible for the operation of a variety of automated or simple manual machinery. Loads and unloads machine and is operators responsibility to check the quality of the material and maintain production quantity standards.


Duties and responsibilities:

  • Checks to see if all materials needed are present to perform operation.
  • Checks quality of product to meet specifications.
  • Notifies Supervisor/Production Assistant of any mechanical or material problems.
  • Makes sure the product is neatly and orderly arranged to be inspected.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and may be moved from one area to another as the work and products change.
  • Assures that all tools and equipment works safely and properly.
  • Performs a safety check at the beginning of each shift. Notifies the maintenance department of any out of specification tool or equipment.
  • Maintains the area in a safe, clean and orderly manner.
  • Ability to follow instructions, perform job with devices as necessary, check quality work with appropriate aids, able to stand and work as necessary, bend stoop and lift as necessary.
  • Adjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of product.
  • Regulate machine flow, speed, or temperature.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Some knowledge of machines to include their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance

Education and work experience:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3-5 years of operating machinery

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend and stoop over an 8 hour period.
  • Must be able to work planned and unplanned overtime.
