Production Assistant/Trainer - PR - Propper

Reports to:  Production Supervisor                 

Supervises:  N/A

Summary Statement:   Under the general supervision of the Production Supervisor, the employee in this position leads the sewing area in daily training and production following all established work and safety procedures.

Essential Job Functions

  • Ensure all sewing employees (1) have their work assignments at the beginning of their shift and (2) understand the sequence and priority of work to be completed during the shift, directing them in essential work in order to keep the production flowing.
  • Understand and enforce all safety protocols.
  • Plan, direct and control the training process for each employee.
  • Design guides and/or procedures for the purpose of making jobs blind friendly.
  • Develop and maintain training records for individuals being trained; provide progress reports to the Production Supervisor on a regular basis.
  • Identify opportunities for safety, training, quality, productivity and delivery improvements and either proactively implement improvement opportunities or report them to the Production Supervisor for consideration.

  • Participate in training and meetings as requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to bend, walk and stand for up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work both planned and unplanned overtime.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Must have a basic understanding of all sewing steps used in the department.
  • Must be able to professionally encourage, motivate, and facilitate cooperation and teamwork in order to reach a common goal.
  • Must have the skill to act in a tactful, sensitive manner.
  • Must be able to visually perform inspections of work.
  • Must be able to successfully convey training attributes based upon individual needs using a variety of techniques, fixtures and devices.
  • Must be able to read, write, and interpret instructions.
  • Must have a basic working knowledge of computers.

Education and Work Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years sewing experience required.
  • Previous training experience.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
