Sr. Vehicle Systems Controls Engineer

Overview: Endera Motors is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Control Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in designing and developing advanced control systems for our electric vehicle (EV) powertrain platforms. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to implement, test, and debug vehicle control systems, ensuring our EVs meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. 

General Responsibilities: 

• Design and Develop Control Systems:
  • Lead the design and development of control systems for Endera's EV powertrain platforms, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Utilize advanced control algorithms to enhance vehicle dynamics and energy management.

• Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
  • Work closely with firmware and integration engineers to implement, test, and debug vehicle control systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to define control system capabilities and establish actuation/sensing requirements.

Qualifications: 

• Technical Expertise:
  • Proven experience in control system development, modeling, and implementation in an embedded environment.
  • Strong fundamentals in control systems theory, linear systems analysis, stability, and controller design.
  • Deep understanding of the physics of electric propulsion, motion control systems, and heat transfer.

• Software and Modeling Proficiency:
  • Excellent proficiency in creating controls-oriented dynamic system models of thermal, hydraulic, or mechanical systems using MATLAB/Simulink/Python.

• System Communication and Integration:
  • Familiarity with control of linear and non-linear systems.
  • Experience with CAN and LIN communications for vehicle system integration.

• Hands-On Experience:
  • Comfort working hands-on with vehicle prototypes, including testing and validation of control systems.
  • Experience working with high voltage systems, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

• Ability to travel 5-10% of the year. 

Education and Experience: 

• BS/MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Preferred 5+ years of experience in automotive product development, with a focus on electric vehicles.
