Overview: The Senior Thermal Controls Engineer at Endera Motors R&D Center will spearhead the development of advanced thermal control systems for electric vehicle (EV) powertrain platforms. This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and collaborative skills to drive innovation and efficiency in thermal management systems.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Design and Develop Control Systems:
    • Lead the design and development of control systems for Endera's EV powertrain platforms, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
    • Utilize advanced control algorithms to enhance vehicle dynamics and energy management.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:
    • Work closely with firmware and integration engineers to implement, test, and debug vehicle control systems.
    • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineers to define control system capabilities and establish actuation/sensing requirements.

We're Looking For

Qualifications: 

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Proven experience in control system development, modeling, and implementation in an embedded environment.
    • Strong fundamentals in control systems theory, linear systems analysis, stability, and controller design.
    • Deep understanding of the physics of electric propulsion, motion control systems, and heat transfer.
  • Software and Modeling Proficiency:
    • Excellent proficiency in creating controls-oriented dynamic system models of thermal, hydraulic, or mechanical systems using MATLAB/Simulink/Python.
  • System Communication and Integration:
    • Familiarity with control of linear and non-linear systems.
    • Experience with CAN and LIN communications for vehicle system integration.
  • Hands-On Experience:
    • Comfort working hands-on with vehicle prototypes, including testing and validation of control systems.
    • Experience working with high voltage systems, ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.
  • Desired Attributes:

    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to innovate in a fast-paced environment.
    • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
    • A proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Ability to travel 5-10% of the year.

 

 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

  • BS/MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Preferred 5+ years of experience in automotive product development, with a focus on electric vehicles.
