Overview: Under the general supervision of the Production Manager, the welder performs all the tasks required to mount a steel bus cage onto a cutaway chassis from start to finish.

Welders will prepare fabricated bus body and cage metal surfaces for proper weldment. Grinding, preparing, and finishing welds to meet and exceed quality standards.

 

General Responsibilities:

  • Weld metal cage to cutaway chassis
  • Weld cross members and support structures
  • Prepare and weld smaller assemblies for other work groups
  • Grind, finish, and buff welds for inspection of quality

  • Combination of office and shop environment.
  • Exposure to elements such as dust, odors, oil, fumes, heat, cold, chemical, metal shavings, and noise.

  • Regularly required to sit or stand, reach, bend, and move about the facility.
  • Occasional lifting of items not exceeding 50 lbs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Must possess a proactive and positive team approach to problem resolution

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year related experience and/or training
  • Experience in Production, or Light Manufacturing desired

 

Preferred but not required:

  • 3+ years’ related experience in automotive manufacturing environment
  • Welding certificate
  • Associate degree in related field
  • ASE Certification
