Summary:

Vighter is seeking a talented stabilization worker for duty in Worcester, Massachusetts. The stabilization worker is responsible for supporting families transitioning from shelter into stable housing by developing and maintaining individualized stabilization plans. This role includes ongoing communication with families, landlords, and external agencies to ensure housing

Key Responsibilities:

  • Discuss with the family to identify necessary supports for post-shelter housing and set up a stabilization plan in ETO/ASIST, updated every 30 days.
  • Check in with families and landlords monthly, with at least one in-person visit every two months, and notify the RAA of any family moves within two business days.
  • After 12 months, reassess the need for in-person visits (monthly phone check-ins) and document any changes in ETO.
  • Request HomeBASE fund reallocations if household income decreases, as outlined in the stabilization plan.
  • Help families access public and private resources to support housing retention.
  • Encourage families to work toward the goals outlined in their stabilization plan.
  • Assist with housing searches to ensure long-term stability.
  • Communicate with RAA and handle fund reallocations to support the stabilization plan.
  • Advocate for families during housing court appearances.
  • Intervene if tenancy is at risk for any reason.
  • Help families secure appropriate medical services and benefits.
  • Monitor school attendance and educational progress for school-age children.
  • Document all meetings, visits, phone calls and progress in ETO/ASIST.
  • Consult with System Navigators when referrals to services are challenging.
  • The job duties are flexible and subject to change depending upon operational needs.

Experience & Education:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in social services, psychology, social work is required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience relevant to the position and working with families and/or children, and/or other vulnerable populations. Work with refugee or migrant populations strongly preferred; 3 years of experience highly desirable.

Qualifications:

  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with persons of all ages and from diverse cultural socioeconomic, educational, racial, and ethnic, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Deliver targeted, culturally appropriate information to help individuals and groups understand health promotion and disease prevention information, policies, regulations, and local code.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements

  • Generally speaking, this is a day shift position with some work, mission dependent, at night and on weekends.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day.
  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and carry up to 10 ft.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor or outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must undergo Urine Drug Screening (UDS)

Travel:

  • Up to 25%, mission / worksite dependent.
