Summary:

Vighter is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) which provides professional healthcare staffing services to Federal, State, and Local government clients. The company is quality focused and registered ISO 9001:2015 and accredited by The Joint Commission in Healthcare Staffing Services. Vighter is recruiting experienced travel professionals who have a focus on MedSurg Tele.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists physicians with patient care; properly fits and applies pre-operative braces, crutches, and other soft goods; assists in preparation for and application of casts and orthopedic appliances; changes dressings; removes sutures, casts, and splints.
  • Assists physicians and nurses with orthopedic procedures, including wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, fracture reductions, etc; instructs patients in cast and traction care and the use of orthopedic appliances.
  • Coordinates data collection resources for the clinic information systems.
  • Remains current with Tele trends, care and supplies; performs other duties as assigned.
  • Chaperones patients.
  • Screen all patients to include General Surgery patients.
  • Executes reception desk duties.
  • Reviews patient medical records for previous exams and other pertinent data for provider’s reference during current exam. Schedules and provides preoperative instruction/information for surgical procedures for both outpatients and inpatients.
  • Documents patient education provided.
  • Trains telephone etiquette to other Ortho staff and requests assistance or information from patients, administrative support staff, nurses and physicians.
  • Takes, monitors and records physiological measurements.
  • Triages urgent needs. Screens all patients to include General Surgery patient.
  • Assists with medical treatment, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures per treatment protocols.
  • Attends morning leadership safety huddle as needed.
  • Assembles, maintains, and operates medical, diagnostic and therapeutic equipment.
  • Performs or assists with the performance of specialized testing and examinations.
  • Assist with routine and emergency orthopedic procedures.
  • Upon completion of procedures and examinations, properly cleans and organizes room and performs any necessary cleaning of equipment as established by departmental policies and procedures and standards.
  • Ensure preventive maintenance and routine cleaning are performed as directed.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and employee safe work habits.
  • Provides patients with the utmost care and attention. All patients shall be assured of their privacy and personal dignity.
  • Using electrocardiogram (EKG) machines to continuously track heart performance
  • Analyzing EKG results to establish baselines and spot abnormalities
  • Recording EKG results to keep patient information accurate
  • Overseeing stress tests to assess patients’ heart function
  • Delivering emergency medical care when patients suffer heart attacks or other life-threatening problems
  • Overseeing and coordinating the activities of telemetry technicians and other staff in their units
 

 

 

  • Administering medications and other treatments ordered by physicians
  • Educating patients on lifestyle changes and ongoing treatments prior to discharge from the hospital
  • Prepares all documentation to meet or exceed established standards of the MTF, to include, but not limited to, timeliness, accuracy, content and signature. Only MTF and Air Force-approved abbreviations shall be used for documentation of the patient health record.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with additional training or education; supplemented with one (1) year of related experience in an accredited health care hospital which results in familiarity with and knowledge of hospital or clinic
  • 1 (one) year of related experience in an accredited health care hospital..

Qualifications:

  • Maintain a national certification by American Heart Association BLS,ACLS.

Duty Hours / On-call Requirements

  • Generally speaking, this is a day or night shift position upon offer. The work schedule for each labor category is as follows:
    • Sunday thru Saturday. NTE 12 hours per day/night and 36 hours per week. With exception, when directed by the Government, the Pharmacy Tech shall remain on duty to complete patient treatment where lack of continuity of care would otherwise jeopardize patient health.
    • This provision is not intended to apply to the time required to complete routine tasks (e.g., completion of paperwork or routine administrative tasks at the end of a shift) which are to be completed as part of the normal work schedule.
  • All candidates are required to provide any schedule limitations before acceptance. We try our best to accommodate your schedule, so please inform Vighter of any schedule limitations in advance.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day.
  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary.
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up & down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and carry up to 10 feet.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation.
  • Must undergo urine drug screening (UDS).
 

 

Travel:

 

  • As required to satisfy the contractual obligations. Generally, travel assignments are 8-13 weeks away from primary residence. Stipends pay contra t amounts for temporary housing. There may be a possibility for extensions for high performing technicians.
