Title:Registered Nurse

 

Location: Miami, Florida

 

Job summary:

Vighter requires Registered Nurses to provide in-flight nursing services to DHS/ICE detainees being repatriated to their countries of origin. The RN will review medical records to determine if detainees can fly and will provide general nursing services during the flight. The employee must be able to make decisions in accordance with protocols as this position is granted a high degree of autonomy. The employee must successfully complete a 7-year criminal background investigation within the previous 12 months.

 

Principle Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for performing a variety of unusual and complex professional tasks without the benefit of close guidance
  • Independently establishes criteria, formulates approaches, and evaluates efforts
  • Responsibilities are at the journeyman level in professional nursing in a correctional health environment
  • Assumes responsibility as the sole medical provider of care for Federal detainees with stable, unstable, and complex medical conditions
  • Independently develops and implements a comprehensive plan to meet the actual and anticipated medical needs of detainee (client) and aircraft crew
  • Anticipates and acquires resources needed for routine and unexpected medical incidents, including medical emergencies in flight
  • Proper judgment is required to prevent delays in service provision, avoid serious adverse impact on the health status of individuals and the population served, and reduce waste efforts and resources
  • Judgmental failure could seriously affect the health status of one or more individuals
  • Review patient information while ensuring compliance with established protocols for the transportation of detainees by air
  • Administer approved medications
  • Provide medical/nursing services during flight operations
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Reports to:

  • Project Manager
  • Deputy Project Manager

 

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Must have exceptional customer service skills
  • Shall be proficient in English and Spanish

 

Experience & Education:

  • Registered Nurse degree
  • BLS Certification
  • Must be certified in the state work is to be conducted
  • Must have a Valid Passport
  • 1 year of ICU or Critical Care Nursing experience

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for more than 8 hours per day
  • Must be willing to work overtime if necessary
  • Must be able to use an elevator or walk up & down stairs
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and carry up to 10 ft.
  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows/knees and reach above and below shoulders
  • Must be able to read and interpret handwritten and typewritten print
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear
  • Must be able to perform duties in an indoor office or outdoor environment
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background investigation
  • Must undergo urine drug testing

 

Travel:

  • Frequent travel by air to international locations will be a routine part of the job
  • Must possess a valid US passport
