  • Location: 3001 Atlantic Ave, Virginia Beach, VA 23451
  • Schedule: Variable or Part-Time (must include weekends and holidays)

  • Work Environment: Oceanfront hotel right on the boardwalk

📝 Summary:
The Valet Attendant is responsible for providing professional valet parking services to guests or customers at hotels, restaurants, event venues, or other establishments. They assist with parking and retrieving vehicles, ensuring efficient and courteous service while maintaining the safety and security of guests' vehicles.

What You’ll Do:

  • Vehicle Parking and Retrieval:
    • Greet guests or customers upon arrival and assist them with parking their vehicles in designated parking areas.
    • Drive vehicles carefully and responsibly when parking and retrieving them, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
    • Park vehicles in an organized and efficient manner to maximize parking capacity and facilitate easy retrieval.
    • Retrieve vehicles promptly upon request, ensuring keys are securely stored and returned to the rightful owner.
  • Customer Service:
    • Provide courteous and professional service to guests or customers, assisting them with luggage or other belongings as needed.
    • Offer assistance or information about the establishment's amenities, services, or nearby attractions.
    • Address any concerns or inquiries from guests regarding parking procedures or vehicle security.
    • Safety and Security:
    • Maintain a safe and secure parking environment by adhering to established valet parking procedures and protocols.
    • Exercise caution when driving and parking vehicles to prevent accidents or damage.
    • Ensure that all parked vehicles are locked and secured properly to prevent theft or vandalism.
    • Report any safety hazards, accidents, or security incidents to management or appropriate authorities.
    • Assist guests with any luggage or bags in and out of their vehicles.
    • Maybe asked to double as a bell service attendant on a needed basis
  • Payment Processing:
    • Collect parking fees from guests or customers according to established rates and procedures.
    • Process payments accurately and provide receipts to customers as needed.
    • Maintain accurate records of parking transactions and reconcile cash or credit card payments at the end of each shift.
    • Vehicle Inspection and Maintenance:
    • Conduct visual inspections of parked vehicles for any damage, dents, or scratches upon arrival and departure.
    • Report any damages or discrepancies to management and document them accordingly.
    • Ensure that valet equipment, such as parking cones, signs, and ticketing systems, is well-maintained and in good working conditions.
  • Team Collaboration:
    • Work collaboratively with other valet attendants and parking staff to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the valet parking service.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, managers, and fellow team members to coordinate tasks and address any issues or concerns.

Qualifications

  • Must be over the age of 21
  • High school diploma or GED certification required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ABC laws.
  • 1-2 years of hotel experience preferred.
  • Cash handling knowledge required.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and possess basic mathematical skills
  • Reading, Writing, Basic Math
  • Computer skills
  • Brand/POS systems knowledge
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly, both oral and written in English.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes while resolving them even if the situation did not begin with them.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure. Must be respectful and maintain a calm demeanor.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
