Overview
The Director of Operations manages all warehouse and delivery operations, including supervision of employees, oversight of all receiving and delivering, inventory management, and facility maintenance, by performing the essential duties listed herein personally or through subordinate managers/supervisors. The Director of Operations is expected to participate in an atmosphere that promotes trust, creativity, open and honest feedback, accountability, and personal development. The job is fast paced and will require excellent communication, time and task management skills. Success in this role will require open and honest feedback to all members of the team at all times.
The Responsibilities:
·Accountable for leading the Operations team to high levels of engagement through servant leadership, positive employee relations strategies and a safety mindset.
·Responsible for collaborating with employees at all levels to embed open and effective communication strategies. Provides leadership and direction to all Warehouse and Delivery Driver personnel.
·Provides leadership and direction for Elite Brands Operations team, including delivery, warehouse, maintenance, inventory management and logistics.
·Ensures the facility is maintained in a constant state of “operational excellence”, namely ensuring a safe, clean, well-organized working environment.
·Ensures that the warehouse team is properly trained in the use of equipment including handheld devices, WMS system, Forklifts and other material handling equipment as necessary to perform their duties.
·Oversee inventory of warehouse supplies. Evaluate expenses to manage overhead and optimize profitability excellence in cost management is required.
·Direct and oversee the receiving, warehousing, and delivery operations.
·Accountable for the safe and efficient delivery of products to off-and on-premise accounts in Elite Brands market territory while ensuring that plans are in place for the Operations team to successfully handle changing market conditions, new segments of growth and competitive challenges.
·Work closely and communicate with Sales on SKU maintenance and inventory flow.
·Leads team to ensure the automated case picking system operates effectively, identifying opportunities to improve throughput, developing and implementing continual preventative maintenance programs and troubleshooting system issues / downtime.
·Direct responsibility for negotiating planned capital purchases and lease rates for the company’s delivery fleet, warehouse equipment and all other operations related items.
·Responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the company’s assets/fleet.
·Provides leadership to oversee and manage the overall facility and maintenance program for Elite.
·Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Operations Strategy & Planning:
·Identify process improvement opportunities to improve efficiency in the warehouse, delivery and maintenance teams.
·Works collaboratively with Elite staff, suppliers and outside vendors to identify and pursue cross-functional efficiency and productivity improvements; position must stay current on new and emerging technologies and processes that may improve the safety and productivity of Elite Brands operations team.
·Identify the future needs and capabilities for the warehouse operations to support growth and work with the project team to develop recommendations and supporting business.
·Build capabilities with routing and delivery effectiveness to effectively adapt the business to the changing market landscape.
Safety Leadership:
·Accountable for building and maintaining a safety environment that encompasses our safety culture for all Operations personnel, whether they are working primarily on site or off site (i.e., delivery).
·Help lead Elite Brands processes for Operations and develop safety plans and processes accordingly.
·Provides leadership and direction to employees and leaders to ensure the safety of employees, while creating safe work processes and procedures to establish a strong safety culture.
·Overall responsibility for ensuring compliance with all OSHA Safety and Environmental procedures, all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and any other federal/state/local regulations that apply to Elite Brands operations.
Performance & Talent Management:
·Provide thoughtful leadership in developing and executing strategic staffing plans that encompass staffing needs, engagement/retention opportunities and turnover trends. Ensure Elite Brands is staffed at appropriate levels to properly support operations.
·Develop and lead an ongoing training and development strategy using Talent Management tools and processes to optimize the development of our employees. Utilize Performance Management tools and processes to coach and develop employees to perform at optimal levels.
·Collaborate with HR to develop a recruiting strategy for Operations Team, particularly for non-CDL drivers and warehouse team members.
Salary starts at $100,000.00/year with the ability to earn pay for performance bonuses.
