Summary:

The Programs Manager is responsible for the daily management and workflow of the Agency Relations Coordinators, Community Mobile Partners and Grocery Rescue office staff.  Supports staff in training and oversight of partner agencies, mobile sites, and grocery stores with Feeding America/USDA/UFB standards. Ensure UFB meets site visit requirements (which may require minimal overnight travel).

 

Duties:

  • Manage and direct staff in daily operations for staff listed above, including hiring, training, monitoring performance, annual performance evaluations, corrective or disciplinary action and ensuring goals and client needs are met  

  • Visit donor, partner agencies, and program sites, on an on-going basis; answering questions, ensuring compliance to procedures and assisting in the resolution of issues and problems 

  • Ensure all health and safety standards are followed and all partner agencies are in compliance with Feeding America, USDA and UFB health and sanitation requirements 

  • Ensure file compliance by performing internal records audit 

  • Responsible to ensure all monthly service reports are accurately submitted by partner agencies and sites in a timely manner 

  • Responsible for timely and accurate completion of required internal paperwork and reports  

  • Work interdepartmentally with management and senior leadership to resolve internal and external program related issues. 

  • Work with Programs Director to expand program reach to unserved or underserved populations as well as identify and disseminate best practices  

  • Work with Programs Director to conduct program evaluation, strategic planning and goal setting, as well as identify key budget priorities   

  • Participate in the planning, development, execution, and reporting related to special projects and grants 

  • Back up all department staff as requested, in both programs areas 

  • Participate in conferences and community representation as assigned by the Programs Director  

  • Work with partner agencies and sites on inventory and product need 

  • Work with partner agencies, inventory, warehouse and transportation in distribution of additional product 

  • Provide internal customer service and maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating professionally to get along with customers, co-workers and managers 

  • Responsible to maintain current food safety training (State Issued Food Handler Permit and/or ServeSafe) 

  • Intentionally build a positive work culture and environment 

  • Other duties as assigned 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Social Service field OR 1 to 3 years directly related experience
  • Preference given to individuals with prior Federal or School Nutrition experience and knowledge
  • Prior supervisory experience necessary
  • Able to work with diverse groups and individuals; able to work independently and a team member
  • Must be able to plan, direct and complete complex tasks
  • Strong organization skills and excellent communication skills, verbally and in writing
  • Good customer service skills; excellent leadership and conflict-resolution skills
  • Intermediate computer skills with database and spreadsheet programs
  • Able to relate to clients, agency staff, donors and the community at large in a manner to reflect positively on UFB
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record (MVR required prior to hire)
  • High positive energy level and high standards of professional ethics and conduct

 

Physical Requirements:

The work is primarily sedentary, but can involve long periods of driving an automobile for site visits.  When monitoring an agency, the job may require moving items, working in tight spaces and other moderate physical exertion.  This person should be able to lift 25 to 40 lbs.  There will be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of papers, books, small parts, etc., on a daily basis.  During peak seasons, all UFB staff may be asked to assist with receiving donations, picking up donations or other customer service work outside the normal scope of duties.  The position may be required to work outdoors in heat and cold temperatures.  The position will also require some day and overnight travel, as needed for site visits.
