Description

Purpose:  The Vincentian Services Member Coordinator works to learn and grow in Vincentian Charism to best establish, support and promote Conferences of Charity in Catholic Parishes. The Vincentian Services Member Coordinator has an active role in promoting and instilling the three Pillars of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul: Spirituality, Friendship and Service.

 

Position Functions: 

The Vincentian Services Member Coordinator is a flexible, proactive and responsible team player who knows how to use their skills, gifts, and knowledge to best support the needs of Conferences of Charity throughout the LA Archdiocese.  The Vincentian Services Member Coordinator role functions within a team setting, working alongside the District Coordinators to provide support for our volunteer Conference members, through the following-but not limited to: formation opportunities, revitalization and recruitment efforts, plan-prepare-execute District or Council events, create relationships with local community and Church leaders. The Vincentian Services Member Coordinator must be capable of utilizing: effective communication, time management, organizational skills, and a passion to serve, to best meet the expectations of the role/position.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Daily communication and coordination within the Vincentian Services team.
  • Strategize and organize local membership recruitment initiatives on a consistent basis.
  • Support member development in Vincentian Spirituality by studying and learning the Rule & Manual of the Society, conduct training, and workshops on Vincentian formation, spirituality, history, accountability, culture, etc., as provided in training materials from the National Council of the Society.
  • Support team members during all Vincentian events throughout the year with planning, execution and follow up for each event.
  • Daily emailing, and internet usage to research resources and to provide support with completing forms online, submitting information via websites, etc.
  • Communicate and build relationships with Parish staff and leadership, i.e. priests and deacons, to establish new conferences/groups of the Society and to revitalize existing ones.
  • Requires a moderate amount of weeknight work and travel.
  • Requires a modest amount of weekend work and travel.
  • Support Conferences in their completion of Annual Reports and filings.
  • Help with basic accounting/bookkeeping to assist groups in their tracking of revenue and expenses.  Review submission for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist friends (people) in need answering their calls and referring them to a Conference in their community, or other service providers.
  • Work with a team in the establishment of annual goals, tracking and reporting data.
  • Travel within Southern California, with the possibility to travel nationally biannually.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent in a related field required.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Korean language proficiency is very helpful.   
  • Time Management skills: manage daily schedule; evening and weekend availability required. 
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Knowledge of Catholic faith and parish life. Two years of Conference level work recommended. 
  • Working knowledge of social media and social networks.
  • Understanding of the Rule, structure, mission, and objectives of the Society. 
  • Prior volunteer-support experience recommended. 
  • Excellent computer skills; experience in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook; great internet research abilities required.
  • Great communication skills required, oral and written.  Excellent problem-solving skills; Good natured; Helpful attitude; and thrives in a busy environment.

Working Conditions & Physical Work Demands:

  • Stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Lift and move up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Regular and on-time attendance is critical; hours occasionally exceed 40 hours per week.

 

Full-time employees are offered medical, dental, vision, and 403b options. The Society will cover 90% of the costs for medical, vision, and HMO dental benefits.
