SUMMARY

The Senior HR Generalist performs a wide range of human resources activities and leads tactical HR responsibilities and initiatives within the organization.  This position leverages a deep understanding of HR principles and best practices to develop, implement, refine, and execute HR processes, while providing guidance and partnership to internal stakeholders.  The Senior HR Generalist is a seasoned professional with demonstrated hands-on experience in a generalist capacity.

This position is located at TGW's Grand Rapids, Michigan headquarters. The Senior Human Resources Generalist is required to be in in the office an average of three (3) days per week. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executes variety of HR activities pertaining to full employee lifecycle: recruiting, onboarding, development, retention, and termination.
  • Administers performance management processes, providing coaching and constructive feedback to supervisors and employees.
  • Oversees leave programs, including FMLA, short-term disability, paid time off, etc., ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
  • Fields employee inquiries on HR-related topics, including policy interpretation, performance management, benefits, conflict resolution, and career development.
  • Manages employee relations issues for teams across the US business, conducting investigations, escalating as necessary, and determining appropriate actions to resolve issues.
  • Assists HR Manager and HR Director with compensation management activities, analyzing market data and internal equity and making compensation recommendations.
  • Maintains employee records and data within HRIS, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality as required.
  • Acts as mentor to other HR team members, providing guidance and supervision as needed.
  • Supports HR department priorities as needed, including talent acquisition, policy development and implementation, and other strategic initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.  HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.

Experience:

Five (5) or more years of human resources experience, preferably in material-handling, industrial, or manufacturing industry.

  • Proactive, self-starter attitude, with willingness and ability to work independently.
  • Thorough understanding of HR principles and knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, combined with decisive judgment ability.
  • Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to build relationships, work collaboratively, and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Robust knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Physical and Cognitive Requirements

  • Ability to remain stationary at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry supplies and materials up to 20 lbs on occasion.
  • Ability to use office equipment, computers, and various electronic devices constantly throughout workday.
  • Ability to move around office environment and reach with hands and arms regularly.
  • Ability to communicate with others verbally and in writing, on a frequent basis.
  • Ability to focus and complete tasks throughout workday in office environment.
