Principal Duty
Team Lead Electrical Engineering is responsible for the design and integration of control systems for industrial material handling solutions and production lines. Team Lead Electrical Engineering will lead a team of electrical engineers on a project, and/or supervise electrical engineers/teams of electrical engineers on projects, while working closely with other controls team members to identify and realize improvements for all aspects of controls/electrical engineering and implementation.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Collaborating with other departments internal and external to TGW
- Identifying, estimating and mitigating risk for special implementations (i.e., prototypes)
- Providing next level escalation level for employees on the team
- Collaborating with and providing feedback to other departments in the implementation process (controls development, product management, etc.)
- Performing Quality Assurance, Progress Control, In-house and Onsite Support
- Hiring and developing employees
- Presenting the status of project controls budgets on a monthly basis
- Releasing time, PTO, and approving expense reports
- Reporting lessons learned across the department
- Ensuring employees have the right tools for the required tasks (Laptop, Software, Toolbox, etc...) and organizing trainings
- Ensuring the team is following TGW and customer safety rules
- Living and promoting the TGW values
Requirements Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a controls related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent)
- Several years of applicable experience in an industrial environment that includes design, debug, startup and production-cut in of warehouse controls equipment – logistics or material handling industry preferred
- Experience working as a Controls System Engineer or similar position preferred
- Experience supervising people in a related field preferred
- Experience working on a complete project lifecycle (Design to production)
- Experience Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7 (STL,SCL,FBD etc) or equivalent knowledge
- Basic understanding for Industrial Communication Protocol (ProfiNet, Ethernet IP, etc)
- Ability to read and understand CAD and electrical drawings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project
- Working knowledge of SCRUM and agile frameworks preferred
- Experience with controls visualization systems preferred (SCADA, HMI, etc.)
- Willingness to travel 20% - 30% of the time both domestically and international
