Position Details

  • Location: Grand Rapids, MI
  • Job Type: Full-time, in-person
  • Travel: 90% during first year, up to 50% after first year (domestic and international)
  • Salary: $85000 - $105000, based on experience

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Controls Commissioning Team Lead supervises a team of Controls Commissioning Engineers in the design, integration, and commissioning of controls systems for industrial material-handling solutions and production lines.  The Controls Commissioning Team Lead will:

  • Travel to various customer sites to learn customer controls systems and operations
  • Collaborate with and provide feedback to other departments throughout the implementation process (controls development, product management, etc.)
  • Identify, estimate, and mitigate risk for special implementations (e.g. prototypes)
  • Provide next-level escalation support for employees on the team
  • Deliver quality assurance, process control, in-house, and onsite support
  • Support hiring, development, and performance management activities with the Controls department
  • Conduct project budget review presentations, monitor timecards and time off requests, and approve expense reports

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) - OR - associate degree with equivalent experience
  • Minimum of two years' experience commissioning controls systems for material-handling solutions
  • Prior experience in formal or informal leadership capacity
  • Knowledge of PLCs, HMI, Industrial Communication Protocol (ProfiNet, Ethernet IP, etc.)
  • Ability to read e-drawings and CAD drawings
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal, Step 7 (STL, SCL, FBD, etc.) or equivalent knowledge
  • Ability to travel up to 90% during first year, and up to 50% after first year
