Director Partnership Development

This position is fully remote, and all candidates interested will be considered.  

Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Partnership Development (VP), the Director for Partnership Development (Director) will develop revenue associated with new partners and sponsors. The Director will work with the VP, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and other senior leaders to develop a pipeline of opportunities that drive substantial growth in mission-centric and mutually beneficial partnerships.  These partnerships will link to the V Foundation’s goals to drive revenue that funds game-changing cancer research. The successful candidate will be goal-oriented, results driven, creative, mission-centric, and a collaborative team player.

The Director will use their relevant experience to create and execute a strategic plan that entails securing new partnerships and sponsorships and diversifying revenue streams. The Director will leverage several built-in strengths of the organization, including positive reputational awareness, a strong board of directors and volunteers, and a dedicated team. The V Foundation also enjoys productive relationships with iconic brands and critical industry and research partners, including our founding partner ESPN. The Director will work closely with the V Foundation events team to determine sponsorship needs and cultivate sponsor support to execute successful fundraising events.

Key Responsibilities/Activities

New Partner Acquisition (70%)

  • Close multiple new, top tier partnership deals annually.
  • Cultivate a robust and diverse pipeline of new Business Partnerships prospects,
  • prioritize, and proactively pursue these mission-critical prospective partners to achieve individual and team annual revenue goals.
  • Develop proposals that demonstrate the strategic mutual value proposition to attract and convert prospects.
  • Successfully transition new partners to Partner Stewardship team to set them up for successful launch and ongoing management of the new partnership.
  • Travel to meet with prospects.

Signature Event Sponsorships (20%)

  • Attract corporate sponsors for all existing events, as well as develop strategies to acquire sponsors for all new events.  
  • Attend certain events to host existing and potential partners.

Fiscal Management/Administration (10%)

  • Ensure adherence to the Partnership Development budget.
  • Provide regular and accurate tracking and reporting of pipeline activities in Salesforce Non-Profit Success Pack.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing or related degree, with 5-plus years relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and NPSP.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong business development skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of building business development pipelines and delivering revenue and event sponsorships from the pipelines. 
  • A belief in the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and action that demonstrates this commitment.
  • Strong sense of initiative and an outcomes-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

Experience/Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of building an external partnerships pipeline and delivering six and seven figure-plus partnership revenue from the pipeline. 
  • Strong strategic thinking, creativity, and excellent presentation skills.
  • Working knowledge of CRM to utilize moves management for reporting accuracy and accountability.
  • An understanding of cause marketing’s role in generating brand awareness and revenue, as well as an ability to coordinate with the efforts of cross-functional teams and partners.

Essential Physical Functions:

  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
