Director of Partner Stewardship 

Job Overview 

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Partner Stewardship, the Director, Partner Stewardship will oversee the management and delivery of fundraising revenue for an assigned portfolio of the V Foundation’s current corporate partners. Through their leadership, the Director will proactively, through independent and collaborative thought leadership, establish strategies to build partner activations and elevated relationships for the V Foundation’s most significant industry partners, with the outcomes driving partners to consider the V Foundation among their most important, impactful, and growth-oriented partners.

The Director will collaborate with our Grants, Marketing, and Partnership Development teams, among others, to steward opportunities that drive substantial growth in mission-centric and mutually beneficial partnerships. These partnerships will link to the V Foundation’s overall goals to drive revenue, relevance, and reach, to fund groundbreaking cancer research.

The Director, Partner Stewardship will leverage several built-in strengths of the organization, including positive reputational awareness and a dedicated team. The V Foundation also enjoys productive relationships with iconic brands and critical industry and research partners, including our founding partner ESPN. The V Foundation is engaged in many markets, along with several noteworthy industry champions, athletes, celebrities, and board members. The Director, Partner Stewardship is arriving at a moment of exciting vision and growth potential with the charge to maximize an existing partnership portfolio in traditional and non-traditional ways. 

Key Responsibilities/Activities 

80%    Strategic Partnership Management & Revenue Generation
Proactively lead development and execution of annual strategic partnership plans for assigned partnership portfolio to drive revenue through mutually beneficial, creative, entrepreneurial, and mission-centric opportunities. In collaboration with other V Foundation teams, prepare regular “Impact” reporting to all partners to demonstrate the progress and impact of the partnership on achieving Victory Over Cancer.  Meet with partners regularly, including in-person meetings with key partners to pitch and close growth opportunities and ensure the V Foundation delivers a best-in-class, mutually beneficial partnership experience.  Successfully transition new partners to the V Foundation family in ways that increase the possibilities of future re-activation and enhanced activation.   

10%   Signature Event Sponsorship
Solicit existing partners for sponsorship of the V Foundation Signature Events Series as part of strategic planning for each partner. Manage coordination of sponsorship benefits and stewardship of partners at designated events.

10%    Fiscal Management/Administration
Provide regular, accurate, and updated periodic reporting of activities and pipeline status in Salesforce (central CRM) against identified goals (including contact information, pipeline data, revenue forecasts and financial tracking, and activity data). 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, or related degree, with 5+ years generating revenue, closing partnerships, serving as point person for leading multi-faceted relationships with Fortune 100 Brands.
  • Proactive self-starter with strong strategic planning & people leadership skills, creative, analytical problem solver, and positive growth mindset.
  • Thorough knowledge of contemporary for-profit and not-for-profit partnership frameworks, including a sense for the ways in which Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”) work in a variety of industry settings.
  • A belief in the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and action that demonstrates this commitment.
  • Strong sense of initiative and an outcomes-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Experience/Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of delivering business partnerships from a variety of industries.  Clear and impactful examples of creating, pitching, and closing business partnerships that yield significant revenue (such as multiple six, seven and eight-figure opportunities).
  • Personally responsible for driving major organizational growth objectives with experience stewarding and elevating a current roster of industry partners.
  • Experience partnering with not-for-profit foundations to deliver partnership opportunities.
  • An understanding of cause marketing’s role in generating revenue, as well as an ability to coordinate with the efforts of cross-functional teams and partners.
  • Salesforce (CRM) experience or similar ability to leverage data to drive activity, reporting and efficiency.
