SUMMARY
In support of the university mission, the Reference and Instruction Librarian focuses on serving the library reference and instruction resource needs of students and faculty by providing reference services, research consultation, and teaching information literacy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Reference & Research Assistance
- Provides reference services to students, faculty, staff, and the community in person and online.
- Assists patrons with research inquiries and navigating library resources.
Library Instruction & Information Literacy
- Teaches library instruction sessions to students both in person and online.
- Promotes information literacy through workshops, presentations, and course-integrated instruction.
- Helps position the Warren Library as a central learning hub within the university system.
Collection Development & Management
- Collaborates with faculty to develop the collection of print and digital monographs and electronic serials.
- Stays current with review literature to make informed collection decisions.
- Participates in collection maintenance to ensure proper bibliographic control in physical and digital formats.
Technical & Data Management
- Navigates vendor platforms for instruction, transaction logging, and title list curation.
- Provides library data for departmental or administrative needs, including accreditation and statistical reporting.
Institutional Service & Scholarly Contributions
- Serves on university and library committees.
- Contributes to library literature and peer-reviewed publications.
