POSITION SUMMARY

1st Security Bank is looking for a Retail Development Specialist. Must be a self-starter, flexible to change priorities, and understand the adult leaner. Adapt to employees learning styles. In this role we want the Development Specialist to be engaging with high energy and positivity. Responsible for coordinating and facilitating operational development for new retail employees. This role may function as a back-up in branches as the needs arise, must be available to work in-branch and travel to provide hands-on development. Works cohesively across multiple business lines to support collaboration and best idea wins and cultivate a WOW experience.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Conduct and facilitate development programs in-person and/or in virtually in a professional, innovative, creative, and engaging manner.

  • This position is primarily facilitating teller development and new accounts training for both consumer and business accounts.

  • Facilitates onboarding training between various departments as required.

  • Designs and develops exercises, tutorials, job aids, and assessments.

  • Provides follow-up and support after training.

  • Seeks feedback to improve development.

  • Must work with the branch leadership to support new hire employee in transitioning to branch responsibilities.

  • A self-starter that leads by example and is present in the branches to support the teams.

  • Must have professional business writing skills to contribute to developing retail learning curriculum.

  • Provides support and supplemental development as needed for individual employees.

  • Ability to explain, implement, and update processes.

  • Ability to identify weaknesses in current bank processes to improve operational efficiency and the customer experience.

  • Takes an active role in working 1:1 with branch employees who may need extra support.

  • Capacity to work with the bank’s online training system.

  • Professional oral and written communication skills and follow-up when corresponding with employees and customers.

  • Meets weekly with their manager to discuss updates on employee development, status, and opportunities.

  • Travel to 1st Security Bank locations to meet development needs.

  • Adheres to 1st Security Bank’s Core Values, policies, and procedures.

  • Supports management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner and always represents the bank with a high-level of integrity.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • At least three years’ experience within a financial institution preferred.

  • At least one year experience in a training/education or related position preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Experience with online training tools and delivery systems. (Outlook, Teams, Zoom)

  • Thorough knowledge of all regulations.

  • Knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering policies, procedures, and related programs.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Must be bondable.

 

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Products and can learn other programs.

  • The employee will operate in a general office environment, using office equipment such as a phone, computer, adding machine and currency/coin counters.

  • The employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time and bend, reach and squat occasionally when accessing safety deposit boxes, storage, or supplies.

  • As part of the daily work demands, occasional lifting and moving of objects up to twenty-five pounds (12 Kg) is required.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, as compared to a private office, with light foot traffic and office equipment. The employee must be willing and able to interact frequently with the public.

  • Travel to branches and may need to stay overnight in some cases.
