Job Summary:   The Golf Course Lead Mechanic will work closely with the head equipment manager to ensure all golf course maintenance equipment is in optimal working condition. This role is crucial in maintaining the high standards of the golf courses.  This role requires an efficient shop mindset with a focus on cleanliness, attention to detail, patience, and a passion for innovative problem solving.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  •   Assist in the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all golf course equipment.
  •   Perform routine inspections and preventive maintence on machinery.
  •   Trouble shoot and diagnose equipment issues.
  •   Maintain accurate records of equipment and maintenance repairs.
  •   Maintain a professional attitude and calm demeanor at all times.
  •   Assist with inventory management of parts and supplies.
  •   Train and supervise maintenance staff on proper equipment use and care.
  •   Ensure compliance tiwh safety regulations and environmental standards.
  •   Collaborate with the grounds maintenance team to meet course quality standards.
  •   Communicate and relay direction to grounds maintenance team in a clear, concise and respectful manner.
  •   Assist in equipment budget planning and cost control measures.
  •   Other duties as assigned.

Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your job, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks, not specifically addressed above.

Reports to: Golf Course Equipment Manager, and Director of Agronomy

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Certificates/Licenses:

  •   Two plus years of experience in golf course equipment maintenance or related field.
  •   Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  •   Knowledge of golf course operations and maintenance practices.
  •   Familiarity with various types of turf equipment and small engines.
  •   Ability to lift up to 50lbs and work in various weather conditions.
  •   Bilingual in English & Spanish is a plus.
  •   Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  •   Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record.
  •   Must possess basic computer skills – Word and Excel
  •   Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  •   Must be extremely organized, efficient and detail oriented.
  •   Must be highly motivated, goal driven, professional, and self-starter.
  •   Must be willing to take the initiative and fix repair issues when they first appear without direction.
  •   Possess the ability to independently manage their time.
  •   Ability to triage broken equipment independently.
  •   Be approachable and communicate clearly when ordering and troubleshooting with dealers, outside techs, and vendor customer service representatives.
  •   Must be comfortable operating heavy equipment, backing up trailers, etc.
  •   Must receive constructive criticism and take direction well.

Language/Communication: Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g. the associates may be required to communicate with English speaking customers or co-workers, the manuals for the equipment the associates may use are in English). Must be able to work as part of a team and maintain open communication with managers and fellow coworker. Must display professional demeanor and communicate in professional language at all times.
