POSITION SUMMARY

The Specialty Behavioral Health Manager manages the Specialty Behavioral Health Program. Is responsible for the supervision, recruitment, training, and development of Specialty Behavioral Health Team Members.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Master's degree in the Behavioral Health field (Psychology, Social Work) with three (3) years of directly related experience is desired
  • Computer literacy is required
  • Certification or certification eligibility as an LCSW, LPC,  Psy.D., or Ph.D. is required.
  • Leadership/Management experience preferred
  • Holds active Supervision Certificate and is an AZBBHE approved clinical supervisor
  • Excellent working knowledge of behavioral medicine and evidence-based treatments for medical and mental health conditions.
  • Working knowledge of CMS/AHCCCS guidelines and regulations
  • Ability to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions.
  • Ability to provide the BH staff with clinical support
  • Should be comfortable working with an interdisciplinary team, and have strong communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of psycho-pharmacology
  • Ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary Resuscitation for the Health Care Professional (CPR) and AED through courses that follow the guidelines from the American Heart Association and Red Cross (cognitive and skills evaluations)
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL:

  • Provide supervision and support to  the specialty behavioral health team.
  • Is an active clinical member of the Behavioral Health team and is able to provide direct patient care as business needs require
  • Maintain all credentials and privileging requirements of an active Behavioral Health Provider
  • Ensure the effective integration of specialty behavioral health care with primary care
  • Provide and document supervision of behavioral health team members in need of clinical hours for licensure
  • Identifies, shares and implements best practices related to primary care-behavioral health integration
  • Ensure compliance with state and behavioral health plan requirements
  • Support the development and implementation of training activities related to specialty behavioral health
  • Work closely with quality, Population health staff, Clinic Operations staff to facilitate the collection, reporting and presentation of program data
  • Run reports to gather data for the department and measure staff productivity
  • Maintain effective working relationships with agency staff and clients

  • Does chart review for quality of care
  • Organize a peer review process for the specialty behavioral health team
  • Ensure the behavioral health program is in compliance with clinical and legal obligations

NONESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two (2) years of community health care experience
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for long periods of time, is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb steps/stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; smell; manage stress as it relates to essential job functions.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work environment:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time when traveling to various clinic sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood borne pathogens, etc.) when working in the clinic area.
