POSITION SUMMARY

The Grants Director is responsible for designing, creating, and implementing processes and procedures to ensure the integrity, quality, and compliance of Adelante Healthcare’s Grants Department. The role will lead the acquisition of public and private funding to support Adelante programs and services, along with the collaborative efforts in developing, implementing, executing, and managing grants and grants-related programs, projects, fund development activities, and initiatives for the organization.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master's Degree in business or health-related field or a combination of equivalent experience and education
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in roles of similar complexity and organizational responsibility, preferably in a healthcare or non-profit setting
  • Previous experience supervising and leading others
  • Experience managing and engaging in fund development activities
  • Proven track record of project management, programmatic follow-up, and a history of delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to work effectively with various vendor, regulatory, and administrative staff within the organization and in the community
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Excellent writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Ability to perform a variety of assignments requiring the considerable exercise of independent judgment
  • Experience with and ability to multitask and thrive under pressure. Must be flexible, energetic, and a self-starter
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of grant writing, grant management, and partnership development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practices of grant administration, including funding sources, administrative requirements, and cost principles
  • Proven track record with budget planning and development, proposal development, assembly, and submission
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of financial management
  • Knowledge of the principles of public and non-profit administration
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel supervision, training, and performance evaluation
  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations relating to grant writing, administration, and management
  • Ability to review several diverse reference sources to select and synthesize data for reports and other grant documents
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and lead team meetings
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and interpret results
  • Ability to take complex information and translate it into written grant proposals and reports clearly and accurately

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL:

  • Plan, design, create and implement all grant-related processes and procedures to ensure the integrity, quality, and compliance of AHC grants
  • Plan and implement strategies to generate financial support by identifying, researching, cultivating, and soliciting private/corporate foundations and federal and state funding sources
  • Lead application process, including establishing timelines and the submission of materials
  • Create workflows and a matrix of responsibilities to support the grants management process 
  • Maintain funding compliance with all applicable federal and local governmental regulations and other funder guidelines
  • Ensure the grant process is mutually beneficial for Adelante and grant funders
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external grant partners
  • Optimize the grant administration process
  • Ensure grant programs operate efficiently
  • Communicate relevant grant information with AHC leadership, departments, and all appropriate internal stakeholders on time
  • Lead and contribute to projects and activities that support the overall achievement of Adelante Healthcare's mission and vision
  • Educate AHC staff on grant policies and procedures

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all pre-and post-grant policies and procedures
  • Provide support in assembling and submitting grant applications, including obtaining letters of support, drafting proposals, and creating budgets
  • Coordinate receipt of awards and contract documentation; maintains application and funding records in a database and prepares scheduled and special reports, studies, and analyses as requested
  • Maintain tracking to ensure the timely submission of proposals and reports
  • Responsible for researching, evaluating, coordinating, and undertaking new grant opportunities based on the needs of the community and the organization
  • Assists executive staff with special projects as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit for long periods of time, is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb steps/stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; smell; manage stress as it relates to essential job functions.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and may occasionally be required to lift or move up to 50 pounds with assistance.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work environment:   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time when traveling to various clinic sites.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee may be subject to health hazards (contagious diseases, blood borne pathogens, etc.) when working in the clinic area.
