We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and detail-oriented Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Litigation Team. This role is critical in supporting our attorneys and paralegals by managing administrative functions, maintaining organized case files, and facilitating communication across all levels of the legal process.

Position Overview:
This full-time position is based in our Columbia, SC office. The Legal Administrative Assistant will handle case files both independently and in close coordination with attorneys. The ideal candidate will have experience in insurance defense, possess strong organizational skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment.

Qualifications and Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare pleadings and draft legal documents, letters, and discovery
  • Serve pleadings and manage service processes
  • Review and organize case documents and chronologies
  • Communicate with witnesses, legal staff, court personnel, and clients
  • Monitor court dates, deadlines, and attorney calendars
  • Maintain electronic and paper filing systems (iManage preferred)
  • Review and process incoming emails; update task history and calendar
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and faxes
  • Open new files, including conflict checks, data entry, and calendaring deadlines
  • Prepare closure letters, submit closure forms, and purge files as needed
  • Schedule depositions, meetings, and coordinate logistics with clients and witnesses

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of prior law firm experience required
  • Knowledge of insurance defense litigation preferred
  • Experience with insurance billing requirements a plus
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, court rules, and procedures
  • Familiarity with e-filing systems (state and federal)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, iManage, and LawBase preferred
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds or more as needed
  • College degree preferred
  • Billing experience a plus
  • Self-starter able to work independently and within a collaborative team
