STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:
Dental Assistant I perform basic supportive dental procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed Dentist and perform delegable functions as defined by The Dental Assisting National Board (DANB AZ).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure quality of care by preparing treatment area for patient; cleans, sterilizes, and sets up treatment area, and pulls patient’s chart.
- Prepare patient for treatment by reviewing medical chart, greeting, seating, draping, taking blood pressure and other vital signs, and communicating information.
- Assure efficiency of Dentist by sterilizing and delivering instruments to treatment area; positioning instruments for Dentist access; suctioning and passing instruments.
- Assure readiness of materials by selecting, mixing basses/impression materials, placing materials for use, and setting up digital dentistry equipment.
- Take and develop patient’s x-rays, as requested by Dentist and per regulatory and department protocol and procedures.
- Mount and file dental x-rays per department procedures.
- Obtain digital impressions, as requested by a Dentist.
