Ignite Education Solutions is hiring a Full-Time Program Assistant to work in the Johnstown/Ebensburg.

What are the duties and responsibilities?

Classroom Assistance

  • Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers (if applicable) in order to coordinate behavioral and instructional efforts
  • Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom
  • Tutor and assist student(s) individually or in small groups in order to help them master content and to reinforce learning concepts
  • Keep teacher/administration informed of special needs and/or problems of student(s)
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Help supervise student(s) throughout the school day, inside and outside of the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty
  • Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips

Behavior/Support Management

  • Help manage behavior of student(s)
  • Assume responsibility for learning and adapting to each student’s special medical, physical, communicative and emotional needs
  • Track behavior and attendance using DOJO or another approved system
  • Assist students with physical disabilities in moving around the school, classrooms, and other facilities.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to students facing challenges.
  • Encourage and empower students to develop and maintain independence in daily activities whenever possible.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Supervision and Safety

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
  • Supervise indoor and outdoor activities, maintaining a secure environment.

Daily Care Activities

  • Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other basic care routines.
  • Foster independence in children by encouraging self-help skills appropriate to their age.

Curriculum Implementation

  • Follow the daily schedule and implement age-appropriate activities.
  • Plan and conduct engaging and educational games, arts and crafts, and other developmental activities.

Qualifications

What do you bring?

 

  • High School Diploma is minimum requirement.
  • Willingness to go through and pass the required clearances and training to ensure the safety and security of our children, including: mandated reporter training, a physical, and TB test. This can typically be accomplished within a week to get you started.
  • Ability to quickly establish rapport with students and adapt to different classroom settings.
  • Strong classroom management skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with the school's policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different teaching assignments.
  • Completed background check and clearance.
  • Capacity for sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time, as these happen throughout the eight-hour day.
