Job Summary:

The Radiology/Patient Care Technician is responsible for providing safe and effective delivery of patient care under the guidance and the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Radiology/Patient Care Technician is also responsible for applying prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in accordance with policy and procedure, practicing radiation safety methods at all times.

Qualifications

Job Responsibilities:

 

    1. Demonstrates flexibility to meet staffing needs of the department and organization.  

    2. Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful,

         accurate and efficient manner to newborns, pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric

         populations.

     3. Identifies patient and family learning needs and provides ongoing education and

         evaluation. 

     4. Uses proper positioning and technical factors to obtain high quality images.

     5. Proficiently operates radiographic equipment.

     6. Is in compliance with all radiation safety standards.

     7. Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner, according to hospital

         policies and procedures.  

     8. Will assist with procedures, will be competent in all waive testing and splinting needs.

     9. Supports patient’s rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical and

         religious diversity.

 

Education Requirements and Other Requirements:

 

Education Level:  High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification: Formal radiologic technology training in AMA approved school. Must be

ARRT registered and IDNS licensed unrestricted. BLS certification required.

 

Experience Requirements:  Minimum of two years’ experience in an acute care radiology position.

 

Working Conditions:  Exposure Category I:  Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.  All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues, or a potential for spills or splashes of them, are Category I tasks.  Use of appropriate protective measures should be required for every employee engaged in Category I tasks.
