Job Purpose/Objectives

The Production Lead oversees the allocation of raw materials to various production teams and communicates raw product requests to the expeditor for fulfillment from the warehouse. Additionally, the lead is tasked with reporting any modifications in the orders they process to the Shift Supervisor. This role includes monitoring and recording the workflow pace for the entire production line, ensuring the quality of incoming raw materials, verifying the completion of finished products, and confirming that an adequate quantity of products is available for employee processing. Furthermore, the Production Lead is accountable for adhering to and supporting GMP regulations, which encompass sanitation responsibilities within the Pre-Cut Department.

Essential Job Functions:

· Making sure all products selected are sanitized according to GMP by the production crew. Making sure there is a steady flow of product on the production line, and making sure employees follow the correct cut procedure for desired product output.

· Checks orders selected by the Expeditor to ensure accuracy and quality. Document mis-picks caused by expeditor or poor quality and alerts supervisors.

· Maintain organization and documentation of production department raw product storage area as well as finished product slot locations.

· Give feedback to the supervisor about the pace and estimated time the production crew should finish their assignments. Track route departure times and schedule workflow to meet deadlines. Identify employees not working at their full potential and alert supervisors.

· Give constructive criticism to production employees and feedback to managers about improvements in procedures.

· Check the quality of the finished product and alert supervisors if quality issues arise.

Working Conditions/Job Environment:

Degree of physical demands usually associated with this position are:

  • Requires repeated stooping and bending
  • Frequent lifting and carrying boxed/bagged fruits and vegetables
  • Requires continuous standing for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs on a repeated basis

Environmental conditions (physical surroundings and hazards) usually associated with this position are:

  • Working in a 36-degree (F) processing area for 8-12 hours daily.
  • Working in a damp environment for 8-12 hours daily.

Qualifications

 

· Ability to recognize letters, numbers, symbols, and basic math skills. (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

· 3 months in the food preparation / food processing field preferably in the produce industry

· Pallet Jack certified, Forklift preferred

· General knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices and procedures within a produce food preparation field

· Ability to learn all warehouse locations and layout, where each raw product is stored

· Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job under immediate supervision

· Basic computer skills, keyboard, mouse, email.

· Ability to lift up to 60lbs on a repeated basis

Preferred Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· 2-4 years in the food preparation / food processing field preferably in the produce industry

· Advanced knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices and procedures within a produce food preparation field

· Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job under moderate to limited supervision
