Job Purpose/Objective:

The Pre-cut Expeditor plays an essential role within the team by overseeing the flow of products entering and exiting the production process

Inbound Product. The Pre-Cut Expeditor manages the distribution of raw products to the decanting area and moves raw product from the warehouse into the precut room as needed.

Outbound Product. The Pre-Cut Expeditor manages the distribution of finished products from the packaging area to the finished product section of the warehouse.

Additionally, this role entails scanning products between warehouses and recording any discrepancies in inventory. The expeditor must communicate any modifications in the orders they process to the Shift Supervisor. They are also tasked with assessing the quality of raw materials entering the production area and the finished products being relocated. It is the expeditor's duty to ensure that an adequate supply of products is available for employees to work with. Furthermore, the Pre-Cut Expeditor is responsible for adhering to standard food service practices, which include maintaining proper sanitation and following product distribution protocols within the Pre-Cut Department

Essential Job Functions:

· Collect lists from supervisors detailing the products needed in the production area during the shift. Scan and select the necessary items, bringing them into the room and arranging them for easy access by production staff. Move, count, scan, and verify finished products, transferring them to the designated finished goods section in the warehouse.

· Prevent production delays due to insufficient product availability by closely monitoring product flow, and the supply of materials for production employees. Ensure the products are transferred in a timely fashion, out of the packaging area, and do not back up or become cluttered.

· Maintain organization and documentation of production department raw product storage area, and finished product areas, as well as packaging.

· Give feedback to the supervisor about the pace and estimated time the production crew should finish their assignments. Identify employees not working at their full potential and alert supervisors.

· Give constructive criticism and feedback to managers about improvements in procedures. Check the quality of the product and alert supervisors to see if quality problems exist.

· Organize products for each line employee so they can maximize cutting time. Individual products should be placed behind employees, so they are able to move from item to item efficiently. Assist product loaders in the decant area to load product into line hoppers.

Working Conditions/Job Environment:

Degree of physical demands (strength) usually associated with this position.

  • Requires repeated stooping and bending.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying boxed/bagged fruits and vegetables.
  • Requires continuous standing for extended periods of time.
  • Requires lifting up to 60 lbs. continuously throughout the shift.

Environmental conditions (physical surroundings and hazards) usually associated with this position are:

  • Working in a 38-degree (F) processing area for 8-10 hours daily
  • Working in a damp environment 8-10 hours daily.
  • Correct usage of all personal protective equipment

 

Qualifications

· Ability to recognize letters, numbers, and symbols

· 3 months in the food preparation / food processing field preferably in the produce industry.

· Pallet Jack certified; Forklift required.

· General knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices and procedures within a produce food preparation field.

· Warehouse layout and where each raw product is stored.

· Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job under immediate supervision

· Ability to lift 60lbs on a repeated basis

Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent

2-4 years in the food preparation / food processing field preferably in the produce industry

Advanced knowledge of General Manufacturing Practices and procedures within a produce food preparation field

Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job under moderate to limited supervision.
