SUMMARY: The Process Planner I is primarily responsible for creating new items, building BOMs, and assigning work-centers/operations; based on inputs from Sales, Product Engineering, and Operations. ERP software will be used to manage changes, reviews, and approvals. Commitment to and support of the Company Core Values are key to success in this position.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Suggest and implement plans to improve existing workflows related to item creation/revision

· Write procedures and other technical documents and recommend specification changes that improve performance, efficiency, cost and delivery

· Notify Sales in a timely manner of any discrepancies and/or questions regarding new item creation requests and regularly follow up to ensure that items are created in a timely manner

· Coordinate with Scheduling and Operations to determine the correct facility and work center of new manufactured items

· Maintain accurate Item Master, Bill of Material, and Routing/Assembly instruction records in the ERP software to support the creation of manufacturing orders and changes to specifications

· Identify and attach technical drawings to corresponding items

· Request new or revised drawings from the Product Engineers as needed to support item creation

· Determine and apply spoilage factors; utilizing a combination of calculations, historical information, sound judgment, and knowledgeable resources

· Attend meetings and supply information regarding pending change orders and new item creation

· Assist the Engineering Department as directed

· Follows Company personnel and product safety requirements; including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs

· Respond to item change requests from all departments in a timely manner and perform BoM changes as directed

· Respond to sample requests in a timely manner and create Items/BoM’s to support the effort of the sample request and test team.

· Other duties as assigned

· Have a working knowledge of lithography, coating equipment, presses, seamers, threaders, and other production equipment.

· A thorough understanding of how the lithography and coating processes relate to the overall manufacturing process.

· Constant and outstanding service to external and internal customers with special attention to the Sales department.

· Be a self-motivating and goal driven individual with the ability to perform under minimal supervision.

· Possess the desire for constant individual, departmental and organizational improvement.

· Have a basic understanding of manufacturing business processes with an emphasis on purchasing and scheduling functions.

· Possess and demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products; including Outlook, Excel, and Word.

· Become a subject matter expert on ERP software packages, as they relate to new item creation and existing item revision.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: An Associate Degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or other technical degree; and two years of related experience in a manufacturing environment, Information Technology, or ERP utilization preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in both written and oral form. Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts in problem solving and calculations. Ability to understand and use statistical concepts. Proficient in the use of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to proactively recognize, analyze, and recommend solutions to problems.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: APICS Certification is a plus.
