SUMMARY
The Avionics Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of avionics maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting across aircraft serviced by the organization. This role provides technical leadership to avionics technicians, ensures compliance with FAA regulations and company policies, manages labor and workflow, and maintains high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in the department.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead, schedule, and supervise daily activities of avionics technicians to ensure timely and compliant maintenance, inspections, and installations.
- Coordinate with internal departments and customers to prioritize work based on aircraft availability and deadlines.
- Review, approve, and audit work orders, logbook entries, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with FAA and company standards.
- Serve as the technical point of contact for complex avionics troubleshooting and provide hands-on support when necessary.
- Manage training, development, and performance evaluations for avionics staff; ensure certifications and technical knowledge are current.
- Maintain inventory levels of avionics parts, test equipment, and consumables; coordinate with procurement and logistics as needed.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives for avionics processes, documentation, and quality control.
- Oversee adherence to safety policies and promote a culture of accountability and professionalism within the team.
- Support audits and inspections conducted by regulatory bodies or clients.
- Report departmental metrics, staffing needs, and operational concerns to senior leadership.
