MASTER DEGREE INTERN-NeuroDiverse Track

EMPLOYER INFORMATION:
Clifford Beers is a mental health clinic serving children and families. Our mission is to
provide integrated services addressing mental, physical, and social determinants in
order to improve health, resiliency and quality of life for children, families and
communities.

PURPOSE:

This internship provides the opportunity for an advanced Master Level student to experience the fast-paced life at a community mental health agency. and . Cofacilitation of an OP group may be available during the course of the internship but cannot be guaranteed. The goal is to help students become skilled beginning therapists that will be able to begin work in an outpatient setting upon graduation and the acquirement of beginning licensure in their respective licensing track.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform psychosocial evaluations
- Write initial treatments plan
- Conduct individual therapy and family/caregiver work
- Use an EHR for both administrative and clinical purposes
- Works 1-3 evenings per week with some flexibility to co-design schedule with
supervisor
- Other related job duties as assigned by Supervisor

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BA or BS.
  • Must be in a Master Level Program for Social Work, MFT, Counseling Fields
  • Prefer for an Advanced Standing or 2nd Year Field Experience


SKILLS:
Must exhibit knowledge and or proven ability in delivering developmentally
appropriate services according to the program while being supported demonstrating
the following skills:
- Providing the best care and welfare to children, young adults, adults, and their
families
- Documenting work in Electronic Medical Records
- Conducting evaluations, and formulating diagnoses in accordance with the
Diagnostic Statistical Manual (DSM)
- Developing clinical formulations and treatment plans that are individualized and
measurable in collaboration with the client/family, and others as relevant
- Providing case management and clinical indicated referrals to families
- Learning to utilize best practices and evidenced based practice models
where appropriate and adheres to model and program expectations
- Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, behavioral informed interventions,
community resources and evidence based best practices for individuals and their
families
 

REQUIREMENTS:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
 

TRAVEL:
- This role may require travel throughout the Greater New Haven area each day.
 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- 20% of the time is spent making repetitive motions.
- 30% of the time spent sitting.
- 20% walking, bending, standing, stooping, crouching or kneeling.
- 30% of the time is spent using hands to type, write, or use controls

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- Indoors, Environmentally controlled with occasional exposure to outdoor weather
