Since 1987, LifeMoves has been a nimble, results-driven organization whose mission has been to provide interim housing and supportive services that create opportunities to aid in the rapid return to stable housing and long-term self-sufficiency. Last year, LifeMoves returned over 2,000 people to housing and stability for 86% of families and 67% of individuals who engaged in their programs. With 26 interim housing communities and support services from Daly City to San Jose, LifeMoves provides its neighbors experiencing homelessness a temporary place to call home while providing intensive, customized case management through both site-based programs and community outreach that teaches and reinforces skills that clients need to return to and sustain stable housing. POSITION PURPOSE

The Impact Analyst will report directly to the Director of Impact + Learning as a key member of the Impact & Learning team. This position will collaborate with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities to better understand our operations and environment. The Impact Analyst will analyze data and create visualizations to generate compelling impact narratives for internal and external audiences. The Impact Analyst will integrate data from multiple sources using a variety of tools and platforms, applying both analytical and systems knowledge to advance the quality and sophistication of business intelligence at LifeMoves. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create complex parameters, filters, calculations, reports, and visualizations to support data analysis, develop interpretations and conclusions, and provide insights and recommendations to support business decisions.

  • Design, develop and deploy dashboards and visualizations for use in multiple platforms, including embedding in webpages and Salesforce layouts.

  • Research, learn, and incorporate new data collection and analysis functionalities to aid program staff in making decisions to increase program impact

  • Provide guidance and recommendations on analytical methodologies and proactively surface opportunities for enhanced learning.

  • Identify the appropriate data sources and elements that best meet requirements and use the most efficient and accurate approach to complete the analysis story.

  • Build, curate, and optimize data sets used for reporting and analysis. Integrate new data as needed and troubleshoot data integrity issues.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, and understand business objectives

  • Provide training and coaching to stakeholders and ensure a shared understanding of the use, meaning and interpretation of analysis, reports and dashboards.

  • Develop expertise in the data models and structures of relevant systems used by LifeMoves.

  • Stay up-to-date with Tableau features and functionalities to ensure effective utilization

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to communicate clearly across a diverse audience with varying levels of business, technical, and analytical expertise.

  • Flexibility to apply understanding of data, models, applications, and techniques across varied circumstances and to adapt approach to changing circumstances.

  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data integration, ETL processes, and data visualization principles and best practices

  • Understanding of statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics and simple linear regression

  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently to meet goals

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise appropriate judgement and uphold policies and procedures

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience in complex data analysis and presentation

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

  • Advanced experience with Tableau Desktop, Tableau Cloud, and Tableau Prep Builder

  • Some experience with other analysis and visualization tools is helpful

  • Experience with data visualization principles and best practices

  • Knowledge of Salesforce NPSP or NPC and BitFocus Clarity strongly preferred

  • Versed in relational database queries with SQL and SOQL

  • Knowledge of tools and practices in data manipulation and transformation

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  • Background in working with nonprofit human services organizations preferred

    Additional Desired Skills

  • Scripting languages such as Python, R, JavaScript

  • Experience with a relational database such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server or

  • MariaDB

  • Experience with "big data" systems or non-traditional databases such as Apache Spark,

  • Hadoop HIVE, Cloudera Impala, Neo4J

  • Familiarity with some AI/ML approaches such as k-means clustering

  • Familiarity with geospatial data sources, file formats and tools, such as ArcGIS, QGIS,

  • PostGIS, shape files, geometries
