Position Type: Full Time, Exempt, Ministerial Exception
Purpose: To work closely and collaboratively, and in some ways as an interdisciplinary team, to (by the power of the Holy Spirit) mend the nets of members (and some nonmembers) who are hurting, broken, troubled, in despair, consumed by sin and/or in conflict. To work with people who want to get well and people who do not want to get well. To minister to those with physical, mental, and spiritual challenges. To bring hope to the dying, and to comfort the mourning. To minister in many ways to all types of people. To work with the Judicial Commission to bring merciful justice to the recalcitrant. To also equip others to help them. All for the glory of God, for the sake of Jesus in the power of the Holy Spirit.
To be the overseer/shepherd for ~700 families in the church using Lead Elders and Elders to facilitate the work. Collaborating with Shepherdesses and Deacons.
Responsibilities:
- To support the ministry plan of the Shepherding Department
- To support the Pastor of Shepherding in equipping and coaching elders about biblical shepherding.
- By helping to identify key elders to lead the way.
- By training and certifying officers as ready to shepherd.
- By working with Lead Elders
- To help develop systems that can be used to identify where people are spiritually, how engaged they are and how they can further worship, belong, grow, and bless.
- To help bring spiritual life and health to the parish (and city) by casting vision and equipping leaders.
- To work hands on to strengthen and maintain the process of spiritual care and church discipline so that the peace and purity of the church is maintained, and individuals/families move toward health.
- To help further improve an effective crisis care system, deacon care and shepherdess ministry including hospital visits, home care, funerals and weddings.
