JOB SUMMARY

The Safety Manager is responsible for continuously monitoring and adapting safety and security procedures and operations to ensure a safe and fully compliant work environment for all employees. The Director of Safety and Security will perform a range of administrative and technological functioning within the agency. Under the direction and supervision of the VP of Operations, the Director of Safety and Security with coordinate all assigned special projects.

Pay: $90,000 annual salary.

FLSA: Exempt, not eligible for overtime.

Location: office located in the Bronx, NY (but will be responsible to travel to site throughout NYC, Long Island, Westchester and Hudson Valley)

Schedule: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday

 

JOB-RELATED DUTIES – ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

These duties are essential and specific to the successful implementation of the position.

Safety:

  • Advise the company’s administrative team on safety issues and compliance in specific projects and operations
  • Inspect and verify company compliance with relevant safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate and current records in accordance with guidelines
  • Analyze incident reports, metrics and injury case studies to institute changes that lead to a safer environment
  • Develop operations goals and objectives, and procedures, and implementing changes to existing standards and procedures
  • Provide safety training for employees on policies, regulations and procedures
  • Coordinating and certifying the implementation of all city, state, and federal building codes and industry standards, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Universal Precautions Policies and Procedures
  • • Recruiting, supervising, monitoring, and evaluating directors, managers, and supervisors to ensure they successfully perform routine daily, weekly, and periodic tasks
  • Update all safety protocols in compliance with all state and federal regulations.
  • Ensure all regulations with FDNY comply including F80 and F02 certifications. Coordinate with FDNY to ensure all fire panels are operation properly.  
  • Performing monthly walk-through to inspect operations at all facilities, including all major building systems
  • Managing the collection, presentation, and reporting of data regarding all activities related to safety and/or infractions
  • Responsible for all record keeping such as, updated logs and accurate record of all safety, security infractions and incidents.
  • Overseeing the internal and external operations-related systems, tests, and inspections

Security

  • Implementing security policies and procedures, ensuring they are followed by all employees
  • Coordinating security operations with local law enforcement agencies as well as private security companies
  • Providing security training to employees on topics such as recognizing security risks and how to respond to emergencies
  • Ensuring background checks and issuing security clearances for new employees
  • Act as a liaison between security companies administration
  • Conducting investigations into security breaches and provide reports detailing the events and actions taken
  • Ensuring compliance with local, state and federal security laws and regulations
  • Oversee all security compliance and coordinate with Human Resources on security clearances
  • Oversee the billing for all security services provided
  • Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and in-service trainings to maintain and improve professional competence
  • Oversee and conduct annual threat assessments at all CHI facilities
  • Other job responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

What do I need to apply?

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Valid F80/F89 Certificate of Fitness from the FDNY
  • Valid OSHA 30 certification
  • Eligible for NYS security licensure certification
  • Ability to travel to satellite locations throughout the agency, both within and outside of region as needed.
  • Refined ability to delegate responsibilities and provide leadership and training to key personnel.
  • Possession of key competencies, including conflict management, business negotiation, organization and decision making.
  • Intermediate or expert level proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access), Outlook, and on the internet.
  • Strong and evident belief in the mission and core values of Community Housing Innovations.
