American Well Services is located in Midland, TX and provides well service rigs for the purpose of workover or completion operations. Along with the well service rigs, AWS offers a wide range of additional wellsite support services including, fluid transfer, fishing and rental services, hot oiling, frac tank rental and wellsite construction.  AWS is managed by seasoned industry veterans and services blue-chip customers in the Permian Basin with a substantial asset base, strong safety culture and industry-leading operating procedures.  American Well Services provides a full suite of completions and workover solutions to customers in the Permian Basin. 

Position Overview: 

The Operator will asset set up and take down of the equipment on the rig. In this role, the job duties include gathering, handling, and sorting tools, pipe, and other materials that aid in the rig’s operations.  

• Operates rig and well servicing equipment 

• Supervises activities of Floorhands and Derrickhands 

• Furnishes and completes accurate daily reports 

• Guides, directs, supervises and assists workover rig crew and contractors adhering to Company safety policies and work schedules 

• Performs basic maintenance of rig and equipment such as daily equipment checks, checking and adding oil or other fluids, etc. 

• Drives rig and other commercial vehicles over various types of road conditions and terrain, including highways, rural roads including paved and gravel 

• Follows and supports all AWS HSE and Drilling policies at all times 

• Knows and uses appropriate PPE at all times 

• Maintains all employee related paperwork, including time sheets, driver logs, trip sheets, etc. 

• Runs accurate tallies in tubing string and rod stream 

• Fills in for Floorhand, Derrickhand, etc., as needed 

• May serve as direct relief and support for Foreman 

• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor 

• Knowledge of downhole conditions and problems 

• 1 year experience as a Well Site Operator II 

• Ability to multi-task in fast paced environment 

• Possess basic maintenance and mechanical skills to perform rig repairs as needed 

• Has problem solving and organizational skills 

• Valid driver license with clean drive record 

• Valid CDL preferred 

• Ability to communicate, read & write in English 

• Ability to clear/pass pre-employment screening, testing and job-relevant hiring requirements. 

• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States, as required by law 

• Able to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 

• Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on routine basis 

• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and color vision 

• Able to deal with wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat/cold 

• Work environment may include moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, airborne particles and moderate to loud noise, requiring consistent use of appropriate PPE
