General Role and Function:

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the campus. Beyond traditional custodial tasks, this position will also engage in tasks such as minor landscaping, light HVAC maintenance, and assisting with inventory counts. The Facilities Specialist will be versatile with a proactive and commitment to ensuring a welcoming environment.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, and restocking supplies.
  • Works with the Alzheimer’s Services team to ensure that the client areas are always clean and well-presented.
  • Empty all trash containers and garbage cans daily.
  • Maintains the grounds by picking up trash and organizing outside storage areas and patios.
  • Assist with minor repairs and maintenance work as needed, such as painting, plumbing, and electrical tasks (training provided).
  • Assist in inventory management and procurement processes as required.
  • Uphold safety and security protocols and may include locking up facilities at the end of the day.
  • Reports any major repair needs to Director of Facilities & Property Management, to attend, schedule, and/or complete any large repairs.
  • Ready to deliver meals when needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.   

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate instructions in English, effectively is required.
  • Janitorial or maintenance experience preferred.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and attention to detail.
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.  
  • Must have reliable, personal vehicle and a valid Driver’s License, good driving record, and applicable insurance coverage required by the company policy.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently.

Physical requirements:

  • Able to ascend/descend a ladder and lift arms over head to service lights or other equipment.
  • Able to move about and re-position yourself to provide maintenance under desks, sinks, and other smaller spaces.
  • Ability to work in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and diverse employee population.
  • Able to work with small parts such as nails, screws, and bolts during any light maintenance project.
  • This position will have exposure to varying temperatures and the elements while performing work outside of the building. Temperatures may range from extreme heat to cold and wet depending on the weather conditions.
  • Able to occasionally lift up to fifty (50) pounds to move equipment/supplies.
