The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
Authority is delegated to the individual in this position to:
- Prepare residents’ diets in accordance with diet orders and daily menus.
- Assist the food service supervisor to determine the amount and type of food necessary to prepare the daily menus.
- Monitor use of food to eliminate waste.
- Follow posted menus for food preparation.
- Stock food in compliance with dietary policies and procedures.
1. Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner.

4. Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation.

5. Follow written menus and recipes.

6. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.

7. Be responsible for avoiding food waste.

8. Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.

9. Be responsible for care of food service equipment.
|
10. Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments.
|
11. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

12. Attend in-service training programs for food service employees.
|
13. Perform other related duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

14. Perform all duties assigned in an effective, timely and professional manner.
|
15. Observe infection control procedures.
|
16. Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.
|
17. Observe all facility policies and procedures.
|
18. Assume Quality Assurance duties as assigned.

19. Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.

20. Assume accountability for all data contained in the employees’ handbook.

21. Come to work in neat, clean attire and consistently present an appropriate professional appearance.
