Qualifications
In addition to having a professional and educational background in teaching English, we are looking for candidates who also possess the following:
- Degree in English or related field
- At least three years of high school teaching experience, secondary or comparable
- Ability to relate well to high school students
- Willingness to contribute to the continuing development of curriculum
- Demonstrated leadership in collaborating with colleagues, leading conversations on curriculum, or advancing new initiatives
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Other skills related to the use of technology in the classroom and Canvas for coursework and grades
- Ability to relate to parents and the wider community
- Active engagement with the School’s Quaker values and mission
- Active engagement with the School’s commitment to diversity and inclusivity as outlined in our Diversity Statement (see below)
- Desire and ability to be an engaged member of the Friends’ Central faculty and wider community
Physical Demands
Physical demands include dexterity for office machines and supply operation including but not limited to writing, using electronic devices, computer, phone, calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and printers. Stooping, bending, reaching and sitting or standing for extended periods of time are common.
