Job Title: Director of Communications
Position Reports to: Vice President for Advancement and Strategic Communications
Classification: Exempt, salaried
Job Status: Full Time (40 hours), 12-months
Start Date: Spring 2025

Job Summary: Brophy’s Director of Communications (DOC) ensures that the institution’s mission and activities are presented via timely and engaging communications platforms; leads the Communications Office; and supports all areas of the school, including the President’s
Office (advancement and fundraising efforts), the Principal’s Office (all facets of school and academic life), the Office of Alumni Relations, the Admissions Office, parent organizations, and others.


The Director of Communications manages the institution’s overall communications effort, assuring a professional, mission-driven voice and image throughout all areas of the institution and across its myriad print and digital platforms. Current platforms include the website, written
communications (emails and eblasts), print communications (two magazines annually plus an admissions brochure), social media, video, and photography. The Director of Communications will maintain Brophy’s established brand standards, working with administration to update the
Brophy Style Guide as needed and to safeguard Brophy’s logos/trademarks. The Director of Communications crafts press releases and provides public relations outreach as needed.

 

About Brophy: Brophy College Preparatory, founded in 1928, is a Catholic, Jesuit school with a high school enrollment of approximately 1300 young men. Brophy offers its students a rigorous and relevant college preparatory curriculum, a highly developed fine arts and music program, a
diversity of extracurricular activities, comprehensive and competitive athletics, and a strong retreat and service learning program. In addition to the high school, Brophy includes Loyola Academy which is a tuition-free, comprehensive junior high school program for sixth-, seventh-,
and eighth-grade boys who demonstrate academic promise but have had limited educational opportunities. As a Jesuit school, Brophy takes great pride in striving to form well-rounded young men who are firmly grounded in a relationship with God that orients them to lead lives of service.

Qualifications

Job Requirements: While a four-year degree in communications, journalism or a related field is required, a graduate degree and a minimum of 8 years professional experience are preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing and editing skills including a mastery of AP Style; should be adept at creating and managing social media content, including photo/video skills; should have experience in website content management; and be familiar with the production of print materials. Experience in public relations and media relations is an important plus.
